Why I Love Winners

If you know me at all, you will also know how much I love the store Winners. People love to debate me on the subject of this incredible store, but all I have to do is name some of my most cherished items that I got there and they will back down immediately.

Here are my top 10 favourite Winners purchases that are still active in my wardrobe:

1. Purple suede Michael Kors chunky-heeled platforms
2. Anne Klein peep-toe red shoes with big bows on the top of the toes
3. Matt & Nat yellow fold-over clutch
4. Matt & Nat red hobo bag
5. DKNY black skinny jeans
6.  Red Betsey Johnson boat bag
7. Calvin Klein twisted skinny jeans
8. Black, round-toe Steve Madden mary-jane pumps
9. Belted fushia trench coat with zebra lining
10. OPI Nail Envy

All of these items I got for AMAZING prices that you would never see in any other store, plus I had to change this list about 4 times already because I keep thinking of other items that I've gotten there! Just today I got three tops for working out in, two cost $16.99 and the other was $19.99. The lower priced ones were Nike and Calvin Klein, the higher-priced one was a lesser-known brand. Unreal!

Feature Designer: Kurt Geiger

Kurt Geiger is one of my favourite brand of shoes to admire from afar. At the moment they are only sold in the UK, Paris,  Milan, and Dubai, and are only shipped within the UK, to Geurnsey, Ireland, and Jersey. The first pair to get me hooked were the Elanoirs (as seen below) but in orange. They are just spectacular, but aren't available in that colour at the moment. Take a look, I think you will be impressed!

Echinacea - £160
Minnie - £75
Garda - £190
Elanoir - £140

Getting Out of Your Fashion Rut

As a psych grad and image consultant, I like to analyze a lot of "why's", especially style-wise.

Everyone, even the most stylish of people can get stuck in a fashion rut. Getting too comfortable in a specific trend or not having motivation to look our best is certainly a downfall of human nature. Who doesn't love to pick one look and run with it?

I can admit, this time of year is a hard time to put on your Sunday best only to have to shovel a path to your car, brush it off, scrape some ice only to find that your handle is frozen shut... but let's challenge each other to be the best we can be! It's so easy to be lazy. I personally can tell you I've only been wearing mascara to work lately because I just can't be bothered to go through the routine of putting on makeup. Why? Why don't I want to look the best I can look everyday?

Some people like the excuse of "oh well I just want to be comfortable" when asked about their jeans and t-shirt existence. You know what is a lot more comfortable than jeans? Leggings! Pair them with a sweater dress or a cute pair of baggy shorts, I guarantee you will feel awesome!

I challenge you to break your own personal rut this month. I am going to wear make-up tomorrow, what are you going to do to be the best you?!

Why Everyone Needs a Great Blazer

Of course they are super hot in the fashion world right now, but it is important for people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and genders to own a great blazer.

Button down jacket with ruched sleeves
Penningtons - $49.99 (on sale)

A blazer that fits well will always give women a waist. Even when it seems impossible, it works!

To the left is a jacket from Penningtons (a store for women size 14+, which is actually the average size for women so I strongly disagree that it should be called a plus size store, but that is a story for another day). This jacket is perfect for women that find it hard to define their waists. This jacket has three buttons right at the waist, and then the fabric flows with the curve from the waist to hip.

Zara - $39.99

For extra petite women I would suggest a blazer with only one button at the waist, and that it hug the body for the entire length. I like this one from Zara right now (to the right) and it's on sale!

Velveteen Blazer
Zara - $49.99
The next blazer is for those in between women, maybe with lots of curves that often find it hard to find clothes that fit well. This blazer is also from Zara, and it comes in black and a tan-ish brown colour which is lovely. This jacket has two buttons so the waist is defined more than with a one button jacket. This is great for 'X' (hourglass), or triangle (pear) shapes.

Wash Effect Hound's Tooth Blazer
Zara - $109.99

Men just have so many more options then women do (blazer-wise that is). If you have a round mid-section I would suggest sticking to something more simple, with two buttons. I love this one from Zara (again, everything is on sale there!). This could also be great on a rectangular man.

Elastic Crossover Blazer
Zara - $109.99
On extra muscular, V shaped guys, I would recommend something that shows off your shape, that is fitted from shoulder to hip. This one, also from Zara, demonstrates that shape exactly.

Let me know how your blazer shopping goes! Good luck!
