This One's for the Men

Tired of wearing board shorts, a tee, and flops? Try out some of these trends for this spring and summer season.

Formal:
- cropped/flood pants
- slim trousers
- double-breasted suits
- skinny, colourful ties
- patterned pocket squares

Although one-button suit jackets are trendy right now, the more button your jacet has, the taller you will look. Four or more is pushing it though, it may make your torso look shorter and more compressed.

Casual:
- cotton shorts with a dress shirt
- coloured cotton chinos (like Docker's)
- cuffed jeans

It will be fun finding dress shirts with funky designs on the inside of the sleeve this spring/summer season because it is on trend to wear your sleeves rolled or pushed up.
Shoes:
-boat shoes
-colourful dress shoes

Accessories:
- straw fidoras
- watches with brightly coloured faces
- masculine brooches

Good luck guys!

South of the Ankle

Have you ever noticed that you don't find too many women that are in between shoe-obsessed and shoe-indifferent?

Stepping into a pair of heels instantly lifts my mood. Stylish shoes make women (and hopefully men, although they would never admit) feel more confident, powerful, and sexy in an instant.

So, although the shows for Fall have just conluded, let's review trends for this coming Spring.

- sky high heels
- geometric patterns and cuts
- bold colours
- heavy hardware
- chunky heels and wedges are on the way back

Below, view some of my favourites from some of the Spring/Summer 2010 collections, and post your favourites and what you love or hate about shoes!

Introduction

Welcome, and thank you for following the Inspired Style blog!

My name is Brianna Douglas. I am a recent graduate of Trent University, with an honours degree in Psychology. Although my interest in psychology has led me to study it for the last four years, my interest in fashion stems back to my accessory-obsessed self at age 4. Pictures of me with my family at Centre Island in Toronto decked out in plastic rings, bracelets, necklaces, and headbands. My Mom says I wouldn't leave the house without them.

Finally, last September I decided to take the plunge and study Image Consulting at George Brown College. Studying how to dress each and every body type and personality style was refreshingly different from psychology. I found that there was many similarities in my studies too. Like, learning about how much self-confidence plays in your day-to-day activities, and especially in special events like job interviews and making first impressions.

In my following posts I will be incorporating my experiences and opinions from both a psychological and consultant point-of-view. I hope you enjoy them!
